Nancy Hill
Deck hardware maintenance
Then:
1960’s & 70’s – Nancy grew up in a sailing family and became a keen sailor in her teens as a double handed then single handed laser sailor. Nancy had great success as a Laser dinghy sailor and was part of the national youth and women’s race training squad. Nancy was inspired to compete in the Whitbread after reading Clare Francis book about her adventures in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1978.
Early 1980’s – University of Portsmouth – It was here Nancy was introduced to offshore sailing, competing in many RORC and JOG races as well as Cowes week. When she left Uni she sailed full time doing deliveries in the med and across the pond.
1988 – Maiden – A chance meeting with Howard, Maidens Project Manager, after another delivery to the med – Nancy became very keen to be involved with the project and her dream was realised.
1989/90 – WRTWYR on board Maiden.
Now:
Nancy has gone back to her first love of horses and the country life where she lives with her husband and two daughters, one has just graduated and one has completed the first year of her degree.
